Designing Digital Experiences

Design in the digital realm is essentially an expression of our contemporary sentiments and the cultural context we inhabit. Following my graduation in Venice in 2008, I entered a technology landscape filled with optimism. Social networks were expanding beyond MySpace, the iPhone was building on the iPod's popularity, and platforms like Search and YouTube were becoming pivotal Internet gateways. The Internet evolved into a space for experiencing connections, akin to a friend or "Doctor Google," a concept eloquently described by Joanne McNeil in Lurking.

My passion for fashion led me to Milan, where I first encountered Anna Wintour at a fashion show.

Swide by Dolce & Gabbana

In 2011, within Dolce & Gabbana's Marketing Department, I contributed to the launch of Swide, a digital lifestyle magazine. Collaborating with visual artist Yuri Ahn and writer Kerry Olsen under the guidance of director Giuliano Federico and Dennis Valle, we curated and created content that unveiled Dolce & Gabbana's vibrant side through the perspectives of contemporary designers, writers, and artists. Swide combined low-fi imagery, behind-the-scenes storytelling from catwalks, and trendsetting insights.

Fluidigm: Enhancing the Customer Experience in Life Sciences

Transitioning from fashion to design consultancy, I worked with renowned agencies across Europe and America, including Fjord, IDEO, and Fuseproject. At Fuseproject, we partnered with Fluidigm, pioneers in making single-cell testing commercially viable. I played a role in designing Juno, a DNA testing machine, and its digital experience. With a focus on healthcare, I leveraged my expertise in Information Architecture to transform a complex scientific process into a bold and luxurious user experience, proving that medical tools can indeed be aesthetically pleasing. We aimed to "simplify the complex quest to understand and apply biology," a mantra that guided our design philosophy for Fluidigm's products. Read more on Designboom.

Google Local Search & Food Experiences

Over the past nine years, my focus has shifted towards various Google products, enhancing consumer experiences in food, such as reservations and online ordering, and merchant experiences like Google Business Profile for SMBs. These designs are now part of everyday interactions on Google Search, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Business Profile.

A Mosaic of Early IXD Work

My portfolio also includes a diverse array of projects beyond those mentioned, covering banking tools, telecommunications, branding, data dashboards, and IPTV controllers. This diversity showcases the adaptability and breadth of design skills, affirming our capacity to meet and transform challenges across different sectors with unwavering passion and creativity.

This journey through projects with Dolce & Gabbana, Fluidigm, and Google highlights the importance of humanizing stories and simplifying complexity, principles that have guided my work across the digital landscape.
